Moscow’s “marshrutkas,” or mini-buses, will be replaced with more comfortable buses with air conditioning and the GLONASS navigation system.

“Marshrutka buses in their current format will soon disappear from Moscow. It is mostly a shadow business,” the capital’s head of transportation and infrastructure department Maxim Liskutov told Komsomolskaya Pravda.

“Of course, the majority of companies operate officially, but you can see for yourself, they do not give tickets to the passengers, and when they report to the tax authorities, we estimate they do it only for half their passengers. In the end, the shadow turnover in the business reaches 30 billion rubles a year.”
